Recycling Lives Resident lands job thanks to local Charity
February 25, 2010
Recycling Lives is celebrating after a Resident started full time work. The Resident, aged 26, has been living at the Recycling Lives Centre on Essex Street since October and is the first Resident to be offered a permanent job.
The Resident successfully completed a voluntary placement learning how to recycle computer monitors and televisions. During the placement he was supervised by his new line manager and proved his skill and enthusiasm. The Resident then undertook a review of his Personal Development Plan, and clearly demonstrated he was ready for full time employment.
The Resident said:
“Id been homeless and unemployed for a long time before I came to Recycling Lives. Having a place to live, training opportunities and the chance to get a job has changed my whole future! I’ve now got a new life ahead of me.”
Becky Wilson, Recycling Lives Charity Manager, said:
“This Resident has progressed exceptionally well through the programme and is a credit to himself and others. He is a great asset to Recycling Lives. The Charity team and other Residents wish him the best of luck in his new role.”
Steve Jackson, Founder and Chairman of Recycling Lives said:
“This Resident is a great example of how Recycling Lives is able to support and train those who have the desire to return to work after living on the edge of society. This Resident is now paying tax and National Insurance, and contributing to society like every other UK employee. We are really looking forward to a long working relationship with him.”
Recycling Lives help the most marginalised people in society to get a job and gain independence through providing training, job opportunities, housing and community resources that boost their skills and capabilities, consequently improving the local economy.
