FIRST Car Donation
April 29, 2010
THIS week the charity received its first ‘gift of waste’. As well as cash donations or items that we could use within our centres such as sports equipment or bedding; we also welcome gifts that we can sell to create revenue. In a bid not to unsettle or to compete with other charities for their established income generators such as clothes, Recycling Lives focuses on being able to extract value from items that can be recycled or re-used.
Items such as old computers or TV’s, scrap cars, brass, copper or lead, cast iron baths, metal railings, unwanted household appliances or anything made from any type of metal is suitable.
This week we received a Ford Fiesta, first registered in 1996, which we went to collect from Leyland.
The car generated £92.00 income for the charity with a possibility of 25% gift aid contribution due to being a ‘gift of waste’.
We understand that items like this can be cumbersome and heavy and so we are currently developing a national network of ‘collectors’ who will arrange removal from your home or workplace.
If you have an item that you think could be of interest please email uk.info@recyclinglives.org with further details and we will try and accommodate.
Our Residents will also take on larger jobs such as factory clearance or machinery dismantling for commercial organisations. By considering this option, businesses will be practicing additional Corporate Social Responsibility and have an opportunity to create good public relations.
