Is Recycling Lives the right choice for you?
If you are a person with a desire to gain employment and ultimately achieve financial independence, then Recycling Lives could be for you.
Recycling Lives tackles worklessness by providing training and employment opportunities
We assist people from marginalised backgrounds or those suffering the effects of personal crisis such as tragedy or separation; people that have temporarily lost the ability to cope with a basic routine.
Recycling Lives provide a stable place to live and creates breathing space for people so that they may participate in training for employment or education
Recycling Lives offers support to adults aged 18 or older that are homeless, or are in danger of becoming homeless. We are fully committed to an equal opportunities policy and do not discriminate on grounds of social status, *past criminal convictions, gender, marital status, age, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, political opinion, disability or sexual orientation.
(*unless we cannot either meet their needs or manage the risk they present.)
Recycling Lives help people by providing quality en-suite accommodation, food and the pastoral care necessary to prepare them for independent living within our society
We understand that Recycling Lives is not for everyone. Success depends on creating and maintaining a stable community at Recycling Lives and therefore detailed assessments of needs and risks are undertaken. To help you decide if Recycling Lives is the right choice for you, we feel you should be able to say YES to the following questions:
- Are you ready to make the most of the opportunities presented to you and actively look for employment with one of our Corporate Partners, and in addition participate in any education or training required to get a job?
- Whilst unemployed are you prepared to progress to working as a volunteer for the Recycling Lives charity, supporting the other Residents to the best of your ability?
- Are you prepared to comply with the basic rules of the Recycling Lives centre and share the ethos of our community which include:
- Residents must treat each other with respect at all times and must be prepared to offer support and friendship to others.
- Residents must not bring or consume alcohol on the premises or in the grounds.
- Residents must not smoke in the Recycling Lives centre; smoking is only permitted in the designated area located outside the building.
- Residents must not bring or consume illegal or non-prescribed drugs on the premises or in the grounds.
- Residents must not be violent, aggressive or abusive towards others.
Our overriding principles in deciding on admission are:
a) Whether Recycling Lives can provide and maintain a safe environment for the applicant, the Recycling Lives community and others.
b) Whether Recycling Lives can meet the needs and offer support to the applicant.
* In order to protect all our Residents we normally preclude the following applicants:
- Anyone who has a history of bullying or that demonstrates a pattern of violent behaviour.
- Anyone currently enduring mental health issues.
- Anyone abusing street drugs or with a current physical or psychological dependence to alcohol.
Please note applicants may be considered if they have recently completed detoxification or rehabilitation and regularly participate in an appropriate support programme within the community. - Anyone who has a history of arson.

Someone who falls into the above categories will not automatically be precluded. However, we will require as much information as possible regarding the above before an informed decision can be made.
