The Founder
Steven Terence Jackson
Born in 1966 and educated in Preston at Hutton Grammar School, Steve is the founder of the Recycling Lives concept and charity; read the story that sparked Steve's passion for creating the charity here. Steve's life has been in commercial management and business creation since the age of 16. He initially began working within his father's metal recycling business, and since 1995 in the creation/acquisition of:
- The first Preston Internet Service Provider and UK web address company
- New Reg Limited and the creation of the newreg.com brand, the first internet vehicle registration company with nationwide markets
- In 1999 acquisition of all competing recycling companies within the Preston area, and merged with the family company, to create Preston Recycling Limited
- A major shareholding in Preston North End Football Club and, after becoming Chief Executive, was instrumental in a major restructuring to ensure appropriate adjustment to a post Premium TV structure
- Property investment, development and holding companies
Steve Jackson has a passion for social entrepreneurship and a strong commitment to helping reduce homelessness. He believes that Recycling Lives is the concept that provides the 'synergy' to achieve his pastoral objective in partnership with the private sector, while simultaneously meeting key targets of the environmental and waste-management agendas.
The Trustees
Jonathan Taylor - Chair of Trustees of Recycling Lives (UK) Limited
Born in 1972 and educated in Preston, after finishing his education at Priory High Secondary school, Jonathan went straight in to work after secondary school and began his working career. Over the last 20 years much of Jonathan's work experience has been in the recycling industry and in business enterprises with Founder of Recycling Lives, Steven Jackson. Jonathan's experience includes:
- Leaving school, Jonathan went to work for a computer accountancy firm for 9 months.
- Started his recycling experience at the age 17 working in the scrap yard at W&D Lee (metals) Ltd.
- Started up New Reg Limited with Steve Jackson in 1990
- Company director for New Reg Limited since incorporation.
He is now a trustee for Recycling Lives and will assist in the projects overall development. Jonathan’s extensive managerial experience and knowledge of IT systems implementation makes him a valuable asset and he will have a significant contribution in the success of Recycling Lives.
Damien Snape - Director & Trustee of Recycling Lives (UK) Limited
Born in 1967 and educated in Preston at Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form levels, Damien works in a managerial position in the commercial side of Recycling Lives Ltd. He will be instrumental in ensuring that resources, knowledge and skills are made available to Recycling Lives. During his working life he has specialised in Sales & Marketing, Operations, and IT systems implementation.
- 4 years with Royal Bank of Scotland
- 3 years in Administration with Fairways A.G. Limited, a VW/Audi dealership
- 12 years in Operations Management, Sales & Marketing and IT systems implementation with Fairways
- 2 years as General Manager of Fairways St Anne’s branch
After working through the ranks over 14 years to the position of General Manager for Fairways Garages on the Fylde Coast the business was sold, and he took a position in the Preston Recycling Group. He is a strong family man with a commitment to serving the under-privileged and marginalised of society.
Rebecca Wilson - Director & Trustee of Recycling Lives (UK) Limited
Born in 1975 and educated in Preston, from Primary through to College, Rebecca (Becky) is a strongly committed and caring person with particular expertise in operational planning and administration.
- After leaving school Rebecca achieved the NNEB Diploma (now recognised as National Diploma in Child Studies (Nursery Nursing)) in the summer of 1993.
- She has been instrumental in the administration and operational side of establishing New Reg Limited.
- Company director for New Reg Limited since 2000, having seen it develop and grow since incorporation in 1996.
