Brian

Computer whizz Brian was able to create a brighter future for himself after just one month at Recycling Lives.
The 28-year-old former computer programmer joined Recycling Lives in June 2010 after two years unemployment finally took their toll and, unable to pay his mortgage, he lost his home. In fewer than 24 hours, Brian had gone from having a secure home to being homeless and sleeping on the streets.
Aware of the work Recycling Lives does, Brian referred himself to the Preston centre. He was able to settle into the comfortable accommodation and use the available training and education facilities to boost his self esteem and get himself back on to the jobs market. To keep himself active, Brian volunteered on several work placements, including the successful Bulky Waste service.
In less than a month, Brian was able to find and secure a job in Manchester. Staff at Recycling Lives then helped him to find rented accommodation and set up independently close to his new job.
Brian said: “Recycling Lives gave me back the confidence and self esteem I lost when I my home got repossessed. It gave me the breathing space to gather my thoughts and find a suitable job for my skills. I am very grateful for all their help.”
