Business sponsorship helps to feed communities across Lancashire

January 2025

A business donation totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds is ensuring we can deliver millions of meals to communities across Lancashire.

Global Ardour Recycling Ltd has committed to making monthly donations to help sustain our impact.

The money will go directly to sustaining our food redistribution work in Lancashire, as we redistribute surplus stock to 94 community groups and charities feeding people in need across the county. Through 2024 this supported the delivery of 2 million meals across Lancashire alone, preventing 900 tonnes of goods from ending up as waste.

The business – which now operates the Preston-based recycling park formerly run by Recycling Lives Ltd – is also continuing to offer training placements and employment opportunities to participants of our residential and rehabilitation programmes.

Alasdair Jackson OBE, Chief Executive of Recycling Lives Charity, said: “We’re very appreciative of Global’s generous donation.
“Getting quality food out to communities requires more than just manpower – we need to power our fridges and freezers and fuel our vans to make collections and deliveries across the region. Like every household and business we’ve seen these costs rise in recent years, so extra financial support means we can keep doing this important work.
“As well as being good for the people who receive the food, this work is closely aligned with Global’s own environmental aims too, as we redirect food from going to waste and prevent goods from going to landfill.”

Sanjay Singhal, Associate Director for Global Ardour Recycling, said: “Our partnership with Recycling Lives Charity goes above any beyond simply making a financial donation, it’s part of our ethos and about putting our values into practice.
“We are privileged to see first-hand the great work the Charity does as a number of our employees have come to us through the support of its programmes. Not only can we see the positive impact had on people’s lives, we have also gained some wonderful employees – we would absolutely encourage other businesses to consider doing the same.
“We are passionate about supporting the Charity in all aspects of what they do. In a time when, unfortunately, people can fall on hard times, Recycling Lives Charity is helping to lift people back up through its food redistribution work too. We’re glad our donation can help to support this.”

Global Ardour Recycling is a leader in the processing and production of ferrous and non-ferrous products. It processes 500,000+ tonnes of metals and 120,000+ end-of-life vehicles for recycling every year, keeping valuable materials in circulation.

Our Food Redistribution Centre – the Lancashire & Cumbria centre for national charity FareShare – redistributes millions of meals each year.

By providing food, toiletries and pet food to groups including community kitchens, foodbanks, hospices, homeless shelters and school breakfast clubs, it helps the growing numbers of families, pensioners and working people struggling to make ends meet. All goods redistributed are surplus stock from the food retail supply chain which would have otherwise gone to waste, despite being in-date.
