Craig

“I wanted a fresh start. I didn’t want to go back to my old area when I got out. I’d be back inside if I’d gone back there.

“So in prison I thought, where am I going to go? If you get out with no job, life becomes hard work. And it makes you go back to doing silly things.

“I heard good things from other inmates about Recycling Lives so I went to work in the workshop dismantling the TVs and then when I was released they got me a job.

“I work in depollution now – recycling cars. I love cars so I really love the job. And they’re great people there, I really do enjoy it.

“It would’ve been harder for me to find work because of my background. Here I’m somewhere where I can progress and do more things like fork lift truck driving, crane driving.

“I knew I wasn’t going to go back to prison – that was my first and last sentence.

“That’s me done with that life. It’s about my future now. I’ve met a girl, got myself somewhere to live and I love my job.”
