Amanda Connor, Enterprise Rent-A-Car

“Our team absolutely love volunteering at FareShare.
“We give staff a paid day each year to go and support a charity of their choice. We’d volunteered with another FareShare regional centre a few years back and really enjoyed it so I got in touch with Lancashire & Cumbria to volunteer there. We did some picking and allocating of the food.
“We all learned a lot – it’s definitely educational. We were shocked about the volume of food that could be going to waste – and the quality of it too.
“Seeing that it all goes out to people instead, though, is amazing. It opened our eyes a little bit too.
“We met people from all walks of life volunteering there. We could see how passionate they all are. It was nice to hear about people’s experiences and how volunteering is working for them – they were people with good work ethics wanting to get back into employment.
“Enterprise Foundation also gives us a pot of money we can donate to charities each year, from our Group profits. So we applied for a donation to go to FareShare’s three North West regional centres.
“It’s a great cause.”
